WORKSHOP 1: MAKING MONSTERS

With Company of Giants, part of Morph Puppet Festival

Come along and make some monsters! Using everyday objects, recycled materials and op shop gems, we’ll use the evocative works of Soju Shots to inspire a new tribe of creatures created by you!

Bring along anything that could become someone’s monster - a discarded jersey, a good box or an old broom! Underneath the way Company of Giants creates theatre is an underlying curiosity about the world and objects around us, from the most epic to the most commonplace, and the desire to figure out what story they might be able to help us tell.

WORKSHOP 2: BUILDING ROBOTS WITH COMPANY OF GIANTS

With Company of Giants, part of Morph Puppet Festival

Time: 1.00pm – 3.00pm
Cost: $12.00

Ever wanted to build a robot? This will be a hands-on workshop where we’ll use a pile of everyday things to make one of our favourite characters from the magical world of Soju Shot’s come to life! Small robots, tall robots, slow robots and quick - come along and explore with us what these curious creatures get up to when nobody’s looking!

WORKSHOP 3: THE ART OF DEVISING THEATRE

With Company of Giants & Soju Shots, part of Morph Puppet Festival

Time: 10.00pm – 2.30pm
Cost: $20.00

This workshop is aimed at anyone who is interested in learning about theatre-making and performance for the stage.

Company of Giants is a professional Whangarei-based theatre collective, forever increasing in size and scope. We make vibrant, original theatre that celebrates, excites and challenges the artists and audience. Forever curious about the world around us, we use experience, research and everyday objects to tell stories - stories that are full of magic, poetry and misunderstood monsters.

Come along and get acquainted with some practical devising tools as we share how we go about investigating and building a piece of work by retracing our steps in this latest collaboration with Soju Shots. This will be a hands-on workshop where we explore creative processes and devising practices with objects, images and ideas.
